Laser Treatment for Bad Backs

I became interested in researching various methods for treating back pain as a few of my very close friends have severe pain in their lower backs recently.
Many people have back problems. One of the newest treatments that is less invasive than traditional surgery is accomplished with lasers.
Laser treatments are an alternative to traditional open back and neck surgeries, fusions and artificial disc replacements. Such treatments utilize the latest techniques for spinal conditions. It offers a gentle and minimally invasive endoscopic laser procedure.
People are back to their normal lives in a short period of time, as they are relieved from their painful conditions. Back treatments with lasers can be accomplished in less than one week. Much of this can be accomplished in an outpatient setting. Pre-operation and post-operation is all completed in the same facility.
There are four primary spine procedures
  • Foraminotomy
  • Laminotomy
  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy
  • Facet Thermal Ablation
Foraminal narrowing caused by bulging discs, herniated discs, scar tissue, bone spurs, thickening of the ligament and facet hypertorphy can be treated with a foraminotomy.
Conditions such as spinal stenosis, caused by a herniated disc, bulging disc, bone spurs, hypertrophy of the ligament flavum, facet hypertrophy and scar tissue can be approached surgically by doing a laminotomy.
The majority of people have multiple conditions. They may need a combination of techniques. Symptoms that lead pinched nerve are usually caused by spinal stenosis or foraminal narrowing. They may also have secondary arthritis of the spine (facet disease). Thus, multiple procedures can be completed simultaneously in order that the patient does not need to return. This reduces lost time and money. It is no more invasive or difficult for the patient to have multiple treatments. Since the procedures are minimally invasive and recuperation time is negligible compared to traditional spine surgeries, it is not any more difficult on the patient to treat more than one condition at a time.
The patient is sedated by a local anesthetic. A small incision is made when a small tube is inserted. A series of tubes that gradually increase in size are placed one at a time over the original tube. This slowly increases the size of the opening to the spine, which leads to the muscles being able to be pushed out of the way instead of being cut or torn. This leads to minimal damage. The surgeon can then begin removing bone and tissue that is compressing the nerve.
I am in no way affiliated with any back laser organizations.
